The journey

A clear path, walked together.

You won't be handed a stack of forms and left to figure it out. Our family liaison walks beside you at every step.

  1. 01

    Step one · 10 minutes

    Reach out to Wayfinder.

Call, email, or fill out our short family form. A real person on our team — not a chatbot — will get back to you within one business day. No diagnosis, referral, or paperwork required to start the conversation.

    • Phone, email, or family form
    • Response within one business day
    • No referral needed to start

What to expect: A warm, unhurried conversation about your child and what's been on your mind.

  2. 02

    Step two · 45 minutes

    Schedule a tour or consultation.

Come walk the halls, meet a teacher and a clinician, and ask every question. Tours are unhurried and child-friendly — bring your little one along, or come solo first.

    • In-person tour or virtual consult
    • Meet teachers and clinicians
    • Siblings welcome on tours

What to expect: Time to see the spaces, ask hard questions, and feel out whether we're the right fit.

  3. 03

    Step three · 1 – 2 visits

    Gentle, play-based evaluation.

If we're a good fit, our specialists complete a play-based evaluation in a calm, familiar room. We use standardized tools where they help and trusted clinical judgment where they don't — and we explain every result in plain language.

    • Play-based, child-paced assessments
    • Standardized tools where useful
    • Plain-language results meeting

What to expect: A clear written report, a sit-down meeting, and time to ask follow-up questions.

  4. 04

Step four · We handle the paperwork

Insurance, payment, and the fine print.

We accept most major insurance plans and bill directly when we can. Our family liaison reviews benefits, explains co-pays and deductibles in advance, and helps with single-case agreements when needed. Private-pay and sliding-scale options are available for families without coverage.

    • Most major insurances accepted
    • Benefits reviewed before you commit
    • Sliding-scale & private-pay options

What to expect: No surprise bills. You'll see a written estimate before services begin.

  5. 05

    Step five · Welcome home

Begin services — your child's team is ready.

On day one, your child's therapists and teachers already know their name, story, and goals. Sessions start gently, with as much ramp-up time as your child needs. Weekly check-ins keep you in the loop, every step.

    • Gentle, paced first sessions
    • Weekly family updates
    • One coordinated team, one shared plan

What to expect: A team that returns your calls and a child who looks forward to coming back.

Optional, never required

What to bring (if you have it).

These help us hit the ground running — but don't wait to call because you don't have them. We've started with far less.

  • Past evaluations or IEP/IFSP
  • Insurance card (front + back)
  • Pediatrician's contact info
  • A list of your questions
  • Recent therapy reports, if any
  • Your child's favorite snack

Common questions

Most parents ask these first.

Do I need a diagnosis to begin?+

No. Many families come to us with questions, not answers. We'll help you sort through what your child needs — even if it isn't with us.

How long does the whole process take?+

Most families move from first call to first session in 2 – 4 weeks. We move faster when there's urgency and slower when families need time.

What if my child has complex medical or developmental needs?+

Welcome. Our team is built for it — including children who are medically complex, nonspeaking, or have layered diagnoses.

Can I tour without committing to anything?+

Always. Tours are free, low-pressure, and a great way to feel out whether Wayfinder is the right home for your family.
